ISPWP Member Spotlight - Elena Fedorova, Playa Del Carmen Wedding Photographer

1. How did you start and why did you choose wedding photography as a career?

After graduating from the Saint Petersburg University of Culture and Art I found myself on the crossroad with no idea where to move next. Making profound research for my life purpose I found my love to wedding photography. 

1. What advice would you give a bride who is looking for a wedding photographer?

First, I would advise you to look through the photographer portfolio, second, check the blog because it will give you a more detailed view on the photographer’s personality, third, it is better to meet in person,  if it is not possible, talk on the phone or skype.

1. Tell us about some of the most unique weddings you have shot?

As for me, I think that every wedding where I was honored to be a wedding photographer was amazing and beautiful. Either it was a small private wedding or a big celebration with hundreds of guests, to answer this question from the point of view of the wedding location then one of the most fascinating was a private wedding a little palace in Saint Petersburg.  

1. What is your favorite part of the wedding day to photograph?

My favorite part is getting ready moments because I think this period of time carries a lot of unpredictable exciting moments and it is very interesting to follow and to capture them.

1. What kinds of weddings do you love to photograph?

I love all kinds of weddings. The main difference is that the big ones usually have a more energetic atmosphere, while the small ones, the intimate part flows softer, that is why I also feel myself differently, according to the situation.

1. What are your top tips for brides to help them get great photos on their wedding day?

I always tell my brides that the most important part at this exact moment of the wedding is to enjoy every one of it. They need to try to forget about all the worries and simple be themselves, as a photographer i will be always near to highlight her beauty and her excited emotions through the candid photos.

1. How important it is to hire an experienced wedding photographer?

If you want highly artistic and beautiful photos that will convey all the atmosphere of your wedding day, the answer is obvious, this come with experience and years of work on improving your mastery. Hiring an experienced photographer you can be sure that your photos will appear gorgeous and I guess that on such a special day you need to reduce the worrying area as much as possible in order to give yourself a chance to enjoy your special day!

1. Do you do “destination weddings”? If so, what are your favorite destinations?

I work as a destination wedding photographer in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya and Tulum.

1. What do you do for fun when you are not shooting weddings?

I love to travel and extend my vision of this world, And while doing it I love to make video and then share it with everyone on my YouTube channel.

1. How would you describe your style of photography?

In a few words I can describe it as elegant, stylish and candid.

1. What inspires you?

The true inspiration for me is the feelings and the people who I meet along my way. I love showing the individuality of every couple and the beauty of their relations, incorporating personal details in every photo session.

1. What is the biggest challenge facing the wedding photographers today?

I think that in our highly energetic society it takes a lot of time and courage to stay up to date with all the new technologies and marketing innovations. it is vital to every photographer who wants to grow his business. That is one of the biggest challenges.

1. Do you offer albums? If so, describe the albums you offer and why you think it is important to provide albums?

I do offer wedding albums and they are included in most of my wedding packages (starting with the simple one and up to exquisite flush mount albums). The photo albums have a power to transform the presentation of your wedding day making it more sophisticated and individual.
