Persian Backyard Wedding
Reza and Shadi contacted us just days before their upcoming wedding. As soon as it was announced that some Covid restrictions were lifting in Ontario, they jumped at the opportunity to say their I do’s in front of their closest family and friends in their family backyard. Shadi and Reza’s wedding, with its gorgeous backyard decor and cultural elements, mouth watering Persian food, and lots of love and laughter surrounding the couple, was the perfect example that even the smallest and most intimate wedding can be the most magical and memorable days of your life.
Couple Wedding Portraits at Trillium Park
The first time we actually met Shadi and Reza in person was on the day of their wedding for their couple portraits at Trillium Park. Reza did mention that Shadi won’t be wearing a white dress so we had no idea what to expect. As soon as we saw them walking towards us, hand-in-hand, Diego and I were both in absolute awe at how stunning they both looked. Shadi was wearing a gorgeous pink dress that flowed with the wind while Reza looked ever so dapper in his navy suit. They were both giddy and all smiles, and ready to start exploring Trillium Park with us. We were very lucky with the weather - it was breezy and very sunny, which allowed us to have so much fun playing with the shadows and light, while also staying cool by the lake and taking in the city views. To be honest though, what made the shoot so wonderful were Shadi and Reza themselves - they were clearly so happy and excited to get married, so as soon as we had all the photos and moments we wanted, we headed to their family’s backyard to get them married!
Persian Wedding Ceremony
The backyard setup for Shadi and Reza’s Persian wedding ceremony was something else! Everywhere you looked was some stunning detail - there were candle tree ornaments hanging on the trees, an ornate Persian rug leading to their seats, a table full of intricate and beautiful cultural elements that were to be a part of the ceremony, tons of food spread out, and an elegantly decorated banquet-style reception table for their guests.
Once all the guests and their furry family members arrived, it was time for Shadi and Reza to make their big entrance together as well. Shadi and Reza grabbed a seat on the ottoman setup in front of the Persian rug as their family clapped and celebrated them, only then to take their seats themselves. The beautiful Persian ceremony was conducted in Farsi, which definitely kept Diego and I on our toes as we had no idea what was to come next - but we are always ready and always shooting, so we were up for the challenge.
It was so wonderful seeing everyone with the biggest smiles and so much joy as they celebrated the coming together of the two families. With the ceremony over, it was time for everyone to eat, drink, and party the evening away.
Shadi and Reza, thank you and your families for the warmest hospitality - we had such a wonderful time and couldn’t have asked for a better couple to start off our year. :)
