Even wedding photographers, when getting married, are photographed. Mihaela and Marius, my good friends and photographers at PhotoONE, were brave enough to entrust me with the task of photographing their wedding, for a real reportage. And I was stubborn enough to photograph differently, meaning I would only shoot reflections on different surfaces and refractions through various environments. I initially intended to obtain a story of their wedding with this new approach but then realized it was not 100% doable. However, it can stand as an example, based on images from only one wedding, for the difference between reflection and refraction.
What we see and any photograph that we take are the results of refracted light. When we try to photograph through a window, through a curtain, through any other environment…that’s refraction, the light pushes through that environment.
The reflection is the return of light from a surface.
