Victoria & Eric treated 100 guests from New York to a fabulous weekend celebration in one of the most spectacular destinations in the world for weddings – the Casa Santo Domingo in Antigua, Guatemala. This is one of the first colonial cities in Central America, and it’s a UNESCO heritage site since many of the buildings from the 1500s and 1600s remain, including the former monastery which is now home to the Casa Santo Domingo. When guests entered the church for the wedding everyone’s jaws completely dropped. More than 2,000 candles lit the ceremony alone and there were several thousand more used in the reception (including in all of the chandeliers). The majority of the lighting you see in all of these pictures (even in the bushes) are candles! Saguzo Eventos organized all of the details, including countless red roses, a Mayan dance troupe and a Michael Jackson impersonator. The city of Antigua itself is set in the mountains, overlooking three volcanoes and it has perpetual spring-like weather. If you’ve been considering getting married somewhere unique, I highly recommend the Casa Santo Domingo. It’s remarkably more affordable than you’d think, especially considering the world-class events held here. This is the second wedding I’ve photographed in this extraordinary location and I’m still completely amazed at the beauty of the city and the venue. It was also really great to work with Victoria & Eric, who are an incredibly nice couple (and photogenic too!)..
