Real Wedding Description

Overlooking the Potomac River, River Farm in Alexandria, with its meticulously landscaped gardens made an ideal location for Jane and Thad’s late fall wedding. The day had all of the right ingredients: a beautiful couple, lots of emotion, kids behaving unpredictably (always a good photo op), and gorgeous light—the kind of day photographers live for.

As I was photographing the bride getting ready, it occurred to me that she bore a striking resemblance to Julia Roberts (her younger brother reminded me of Justin Timberlake). Just when I thought things couldn’t possibly get any better, the setting sun flooded the ballroom with rich, warm light illuminating the couple as they made their entrance to do their first dance. It hovered in the window for the duration of that first dance before disappearing over the horizon. Steven Spielberg and an arsenal of Klieg lights could not have produced a more cinematic effect.
