Kelso Conservation Area Fall Engagement Shoot
Guys, we discovered another gem of a location for engagement shoots! Kelso Conservation Area! Ahhhh we are so excited to share the photos!! Marianne and Adam chose Kelso Conservation Area for their fall engagement shoot and wow, was it amazing! We’ve actually shot at Kelso Conservation Area a couple of years back, and while we knew it’s an awesome spot for shoots, we forgot just how awesome it is! Located near Milton, Ontario, the park is huge and is centred around Lake Kelso, where in the summer you can not only swim there, but also rent canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. You can even reserve campsites in the summer months, and go skiing and snowboard in the winter. But the fall months at Kelso…Wow. Marianne and Adam, you guys chose well!
I have to admit, I was a little worried about the state of the fall leaves so late in October. Everywhere around us the leaves were already in their final days and it seemed that one strong rainstorm would be all that it would take to strip the trees bare. For Marianne and Adam, the date of their engagement shoot was super important and special as they were initially slated to get married on that same day (thanks, Covid!), and what better way to spend the day than by snuggling up to one another for their engagement photos. So with fingers and toes crossed, I hoped that we’d still have all the fall colours and leaves for their engagement session, and did we ever!
Funny enough, we heard Marianne and Adam arrive at Kelso Conservation Area before we even saw them drive up. They pulled up for their engagement shoot in style in their green vintage convertible that Adam and his dad restored together (how cool!). Once we started exploring the park, any worries I may have had about capturing the fall leaves were gone. Not only were the trees everywhere covered in bright yellows, oranges, and reds, but the ground was also covered with a thick layer of leaves. Since it was a grey and gloomy day, all the leaves made it extra fun to shoot with all the bursts of vibrant colours filling each frame. And Marianne and Adam were so much fun and so awesome to shoot with! They were so patient as we played with puddles and reflections, they were totally cool about breaking a bit of sweat as we had them running back and forth, and they perfected our drunk walk, and all this while constantly laughing and giggling with each other and giving us the best smiles!
The best part of the shoot came at the very end, once we called it a wrap and started to head back to our cars, but it wasn’t because we were done - we could have happily spent the entire evening at Kelso Conservation area with Marianne and Adam. It was actually something that Adam casually mentioned to us at the end before driving off. He told us that he had not been looking forward to the engagement shoot earlier, in fact, he was kind of dreading it, but now that it was over, he saw that his preconceived vision of an engagement shoot was totally different than his actual experience and he actually had a blast! This is the best compliment and music to our ears, guys! With every engagement shoot, our goal is to have the best time with our couple, and for the couple to have the best time with us, while of course getting the best photos. Well guys, your engagement shoot was all that and so much more! We had sooo much fun and are so in love with your fall engagement photos! Thank you for such an amazing wrap to our fall season shoots!
