Married to my Camera

I’m David, a Surrey wedding photographer of over fifteen years, shooting weddings in a documentary style. I aim to tell the story of the wedding day, and create sensitive images of this most pivotal day in my couple’s lives. The wedding day though, has never been for me just about the bride and groom. I’m just as interested in all the activity, the sometimes humourous moments and the emotion, as family and friends come together to celebrate.

My job is to create a set of pictures that in the years to come will transport the viewer back to that moment in time. One of the ways I do this is to remain as unobtrusive as possible while I’m shooting. The last thing I want to do is to take over the day and turn it into an elaborate photo shoot! Making the most of natural light is another important element in my work, and helps to create a sense of time and place in my pictures. As a photographer based in Surrey, most of the weddings I shoot are in the South East of England, but I also love to travel the length and breadth of the country, and to destination weddings abroad.
